Jon Chepkevich was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and, despite not having a professional basketball team in his hometown, fell in love with the game at a very young age... and basketball has been an integral part of his life ever since. Playing and competing on several teams, Jon was deeply rooted in the high school and AAU basketball scene in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. After high school, Jon went on to found the club basketball team during his time at the University of Notre Dame, gained some youth AAU coaching experience along the way, and is currently enjoying the widespread pick-up and competitive basketball culture in Chicago, IL.

Jon moved to Chicago in the fall of 2014 after graduating from Notre Dame to take a position with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Throughout his three years at PwC, Jon has been serving both public and private companies across a variety of industries, including professional sports. Jon’s role has provided him with significant exposure to technical accounting experience, as well as a high-level and analytical understanding of how successful businesses and their management operate effectively and efficiently.

Over the past year, Jon has been fortunate to have gained some basketball-related experience within the firm to help build upon his overall business acumen.

Jon’s first breakthrough came in the summer of 2016, when he was chosen to represent his firm on the PwC United States Team at the PwC International Basketball Tournament in Warsaw, Poland. Jon and his teammates had the opportunity to compete against PwC teams representing 13 other countries, and ultimately defeated PwC China in the championship.

Through Jon’s experience at the PwC International Basketball Tournament, and high performance at the firm, he was selected to participate on the NBA Basketball Related Income (BRI) engagement project in a co-senior role. Jon travelled to various NBA teams’ corporate offices to perform reviews of their BRI in adherence to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Jon’s debriefing memos and variance analyses were presented to the League and the Players Association, and ultimately helped to determine the Salary Cap for the 2017-18 NBA season, which was officially released prior to free agency in July.

Jon holds certificates of accomplishment for SMWW’s Basketball GM/Scouting and Basketball Analytics courses, and has conducted informational interviews with the likes of Bobby Marks, Kevin Pelton, Ben Falk, Ruth Riley, etc. as a means to refine his front office and analytical competency. Jon has accumulated extensive knowledge of the NBA Salary Cap, NBA/NBAPA Collective Bargaining Agreement, Synergy Sports Technology game film analysis, basketball analytics, player scouting, and skill development. Jon is currently continuing his professional education via the Columbia University Sports Industry Essentials Program.

Jon currently serves in a scouting capacity for both SMWW and NetScouts, wherein he has experience scouting the FIBA U18 European Championships, and will be a credentialed scout for upcoming NBA G-League games/events, NCAA games, and more.
