Marshal Larkey resides in Alexandria, Virginia and retired from the United States Army in 2007.  Marshal is the General Manager of Bird Dog Scout LLC, Sports Management and Athletic Recruiting, promoting baseball and softball players from high school to college opportunities and signing National Letters of Intent.

Coached high school baseball and football over 20 years up to the American Legion level and covers players nationwide and capable of physically scouting six states within the Northern Virginia and District of Columbia area (DC, MD, NC, PA, VA, WV); has the ability to evaluate and mentor positional players, catchers and pitchers.

Marshal completed the Baseball General Manager and Scouting certification course in 2013. The course included MLB collective bargaining agreement, Sabermetrics, MLB scouting techniques, scouting reports, draft analysis, player evaluations, MLB General Manager practices and statistical analysis. His mentors included four-time World Series winning scout, Larry D'Amato and former General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dan Evans.

As head coach was responsible for all facets of the baseball programs, organization and planning of practices, game preparations, administrative-tasks and monitoring student-athlete academic progress.  Educates players on the NCAA eligibility rules and recruiting process; leads, manages and develops student-athletes; plans and directs the overall training strategy for the program; establishes practice and competition schedules; develops and implements a student-athlete recruiting strategy; spearheads fundraising efforts and alumni engagement and supervises assistant coaches. Organized annual baseball showcases, inviting 221 colleges from six surrounding states; coordinates and conducts baseball camps for the community.

Professional skills include National Federation of High Schools, level one coaching certification, Cal Ripken coaching certification, Commonwealth of Virginia Master Coach certification through the Virginia High School League, NCAA recruiting, scheduling, organizing practices, knowledge of rules and regulations, responsible for overall operation of entire athletic department, overall assistance with operations and logistics of entire athletic departments, develop a competitive program, training and conditioning.

Administrative skills include planning, instructor credentials, sensitivity to equity and diversity issues, public relations, media and community relations, oversee administrative process of team travel, budget planning, administration, management, fund raising, sports marketing, motivational skills, commitment to academic achievement, tutoring, leadership skills, communication skills, skills development, establish priorities, mentoring, setting objectives, work independently, on-field coaching.

While in the United States Army, mentored strength and conditioning, physical conditioning, weight control and minimized risk of injury of units with over 620 personnel; served numerous deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Marshal can also speak conversational Spanish and German.
